The primary goal of Bursa – Gemlik Railway project is to provide a cheaper and efficient way of freight transportation to a logistics center near Gemlik Port by a railway line. The project starts from a junction Bursa – Yenişehir High Speed Railway and goes till Gemlik Port. The project is totally 21.8 km including 4 tunnels (5143 m, 527 m, 400 m and 3334 m).

The project site contains several poor bearing soil regions. Therefore, possible risks that may occur during cut operations have been foreseen and cut-cover tunnels have been designed at two locations (457 m and 656 m) in order to make railway line safe. Because of the fact that project site has deep alluvial deposits, several poor bearing soil zones is located throughout the railway line, advanced ground improvement techniques have been designed at railway-bed. For the continuity of whole roads that the route affects 6 underpasses, 2 agricultural underpasses and 3 overpasses were designed. Also 2 hydraulic bridges of 62.5 m and 30 m were designed.

Furthermore, for the connection of Bursa-Yenişehir line, 2926m wye track were designed. Since this track intercept to Nilüfer River and includes high embankment zones over poor bearing soil, a viaduct of 1594 m were designed.
