Doğançay Ripage II. Part Doğançay- Sapanca Section Railway Project, is the part that Ankara- İstanbul Speed Railway is interrupted and the existing line is followed. For this reason the speed and the comfort of the Ankara – İstanbul Speed Railway is reduced at this section. With Doğançay Ripage the country’s most important railway artery will be completed. Also a connection line is designed to the existing conventional line for accessing Doğançay – Arifiye direction. The scope of the project includes many special engineering solutions and staged construction since it is passing Sapanca City and is crossing the Ankara – İstanbul Motorway which leads to geospatioal jam with addition to project alignment being on the 1. Degree Earthquake zone and including many landslides. Under this circumstances the project was carried out on the basis of the continuation of the operation of the existing railway in the Sapanca Crossing. The existing conventional line in the city of Sapanca was displaced, for İstanbul Creek in Sapanca staged bridges were designed. The coastal road crossing that is affected by the alignment is solved with under and over passes. Ankara-İstanbul Motorway crossing is passed with an underpass without interrupting traffic. Across the tunnels (2885m, 4667m and 358m) soft ground conditions were detected at specific locations and in order to maintain a safe tunnelling, special excavation methods and support systems from current literature were incorporated in this project. Viaducts are designed for river crossings: Akçay Creek (95 m) and Sakarya River (560 m). Weak soils of the viaduct foundations have been reinforced by using advanced soil improvement methods. |
